Benefit of Flax Seed

The first reported use of flax seed is in Asia over five thousand years ago. Since then, it has been researched and commercialised as one of the finest sources of nutrition known to man.

Hundreds of research studies have shown flax to be high in omega3 fatty acids which have great health benefits. Omega3s have been shown to reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease and other cardiovascular disease as well as being effective in treatin mental disorders and depression. Research also shows omega3s to aid in arthritis and other inflamatory conditions.

The omega3 fatty acid in flax oil has become very popular among vegetarians and vegans who do not wish to take fish oils.

As an added benefit, flaxseed also includes far more plant lignins than other seeds, such as sesame and sunflower. This is extremely important as research now shows that lignins are protective against many forms of cancer.

It is now commonplace for many EFA blend supplements to include flax seed as one of their main ingredients.
